The international SIRENA project develops a framework for distributed embedded service systems. Our subproject aims to ensure the security and reliability of the operation of SIRENA applications. It should enable applications to dynamically and flexibly adapt to changing security requirements and environmental conditions, and allow users to conveniently define and control the adaptation and operational control functions required for this purpose.
We develop those SIRENA infrastructure services that provide basic security services and mechanisms as well as administration functions to customize and manage applications. For the middleware platform, we develop security and administration components based on these services, which support the efficient integration of the respective required functions into the applications. Furthermore, we are developing tools that provide direct user support and ensure convenient and quality-assured use of the functions. Tools and automated administration will apply and extend the approach of model-based management.
